Mooting is how law students learn to actually practise: you get a problem, you research it for months, you write the memorials, and then you stand up and argue it in front of judges who interrupt. RULE–ELBBL has been doing it internationally since 2016.

Teams have argued in Vienna, Geneva, The Hague, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Nuremberg, Kathmandu and Cebu — and have come home with memorial awards, oralist awards and quarter-final and semi-final places against fields of over a hundred universities.

Closer to home, students compete in the Student Research Competition, the JCI Public Speaking and Debating Championship, the National Youth Debate on Environmental Issues, the Special ASEAN Quiz, the Springboard National English Speaking Championship, the AICHR Youth Debate on Human Rights, the Supreme Writing Competition, and the Youth Public Speaking Competition on Cambodia’s Vision 2050.
